Cracked pin
« on: April 12, 2005, 09:12:41 AM »
Hello all,

My Uranium has a cracked pin on it.  I allready have it drilled and everything.  Would the pin being cracked hurt anything.  IT is just the pin itself not anyting arount it.  Will is continue to crack and mess anyting up or will the crack just stay in the pin, and also would it be safe to drill out the pin and plug it?  Or is it best to leave it alone?

If it was me I'd try to return it, and get a new one. Just to be safe. I don't know much about all of this, but I do know that the pin marks the center if the core, and I wouldn't want to F' with all that. I'd return it just in case.
Good luck!!!

I find it unlikely that Lane #1 would replace a ball with a cracked pin.  This is an easy repair that could be done in any pro shop.  Just drill it out and fill with plug material colored to your liking.  Heck, be the only FOS member with a pink pinned Uranium.

The pin being cracked is not going to make a difference in the performance of the ball. The pin is simply an indicator of where the top of the core is.

I did'nt think it was a big deal just wanted to check.  I really don't think they would replace it anyway because I got the ball free.  Thanks for the replys.

CF,

I had the pin fall out of a ball once. Bowled with it the rest of the night, then had the shop plug the pin hole with the same color plug as the pin was.

When I got it back, you couldn't even tell it had ever been gone, and it didn't hurt the performance one bit.
