MY RANT:...when it's your turn,..

be there to bowl. I hate bowling a team that you have to wait for their members to be up when it's they're turn to bowl. A rule on the teams I bowl with is meet the guy you are following when he/she comes off the approach. Chasing down the other team sucks...

While waiting for someone to bowl their frame stinks...try bowling against the team that always has one bowler show up late for bowling.  Ofcourse they drag their feet so that he can show up before the game /frame cut-off point and then we have to wait for him to catch up!

Thats the least of the frustration. Its worse when you are on the same team as your fiancee who lives about 1 mile from the bowling alley and she still shows up 5-10 minutes late on a weekly basis!! She always says that she had a million things to do after work or she purposely schedules appointments of all sorts right after work on Thursdays when she knows she needs to be at the lanes by 6:30. Man that pisses me off!!

I bowl in a youth league where I go and find the offending brat(under 10), pick them up and take them to the lane. Everyone else I intimidate them onto the lane.

Bones, you are older (according to Hose), more mature and and have a lot more patience with people than some of the others here, do/have. I think there a lot of people that wish they could both see things and handle them like you do. I wish I could too, but that is not always the case. I can handle bowlers coming late without any problem, as long as it is a one time thing, but the ones that come late every week, there is not any excuse for it, and that is when we can't look at it with as much patience as you do. I will have to applaud you for being the way you are.

Two quick fixes work on my league:

1.  On the PA:  "Sally, there is no waiting on Lane 12!"

2.  Not on the PA, just talking to the other team:  "Ladies, some of us are paying a babysitter at home.  Can we pick up the pace a little?  Thanks."

I am with you jim! What happened to the days of 2.25 hours for a 5x3 mens league... start at 6:30 and second shift on the lanes at 8:45 for a 9pm start. I cant stand it period! Especially bowlers who are directly in front of me.

I'm not talking about bowlers who are late to bowl leagues,..that's another post. I'm talking about the social-lites that are there to meander around all night, and never pay attention to when they are up,...the ones ya have to tell them all night,..."you're up",...if ya want to bowl, come to bowl, there's plenty of time for BS'ing, but be ready when it's your turn please...!!!

I hate the guys who try and rush the game. I am not late to the lanes or anything. I mean the guys that every frame as soon as the bowler in front of you throws his second ball, they are like "you're up".

I know I am next on that lane and don't need to be reminded. The other Teams player is next to bowl. I have time to get up there ready to bowl when he/she is done.

I have not been Bowling that long but the one thing I have noticed in leagues is that the Top Teams tend to take their time.

The Team I am on all have been Bowling for a year and a half and one new member who just started a few months ago. We started taking our time last league and we took first and in this league we have a 1.5 game lead over the 2nd place team.


Now I understand about the guy who is always down on the other end of the alley or at the snack bar every time it is his turn. That does suck. My first league we had a guy on our team that was always at the other end talking to aome girl on another team. The worse part of it was, he not only held up our games each week but he didn't even have the Balls to ask the Girl out.

I agree Jim.

I bowl with a guy who was really bad at that when he was younger.  It seemed like every frame you had to say "You're up John Ray".  Now anytime someone isn't up when it's their turn, we yell out "You're up Johyn Ray" no matter who it is.  They don't do it again.....for a while
