Pin distance on ball?
« on: August 23, 2014, 11:07:30 AM »
What are the draw backs to a 1/2 inch pin? The ball also has 2.4 top weight.

I am a lefty tweener with 15 to 16mph ball speed.

Thanks for the help.

What ball? Kind of limits the layout, but you can drill the fingers deep to get it legal if you want to go pin up.

My buddy has a ball with a no inch pin.  Throws all of his other stuff well BTW, but this one rings 10 pins all day long.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid

IQ Tour Fusion, but I like pin down drillings, and Doom you know how I bowl, what do you think?

Pin up is what I use on solids, it does not seem to work on anything else for me.

Pin down would work. 4 inch pin to pap would work well, IMO.

I have a melee with one inch pin, punched pin down. By far my favorite. I think the fusion would be great with that pin/drill.
Let me know how it goes.

It is kind of a personal matchup thing.  I have used lots of different pin positions over the years.  Lately I have migrated to either pin up on the extended grip line, or pin just below the fingers on the grip line.  I will use the pin up drilling on my strong pearls.  Just put a pin down drilling on my Legend.  Those layouts seem a bit more stable and predictable for me on flatter patterns.

It limits where you may able to put the pin for different layouts.

If going pin down, obviously not an issue. If trying to go with shorter pin to pap, or other locations then the static weight becomes a concern along with weight hole location. Easiest thing to do is draw your lines then weight before drilling and then you know where you stand.
