Shoe break in? Can't slide Ultra 3g.
« on: March 02, 2020, 11:58:46 AM »
I bought a pair of ultra 3gs to replace my aging Dynaroos, using the same #sole (the slickest) and heal as my dynaroos I can't slide at all so I keep using my old shoes which are really starting to fall apart. I tried to swap the sole and heal (from old pair to new) but sole is just a tad too big so it needs a bit of trimming but that would be a short term solution.

What's the trick to breaking these in, I'm using the slickest sole and it's like wearing sneakers,

More likely the Heel is causing you to stick rather then the sole.  New shoe have fresh rubber heels and they are breaking more then your older shoes as the rubber in the heel will begin to "glaze" over after some use.  Try putting on the felt heel or the adjustable heel and see if you can slide then.   You can always use the you old heel on the new shoes for while and break in the newer heel during a few practice sessions.

What DanScig stated above is my experience.  For me, the heal needed some "dirt" on it.  Once I used it enough it was great.  But heaven forbid I scuff the carpet too much and revealed a nice new section of heal.

I had that same issue with the Sport Ultras I bought a while back.  But I got some Tour Ultras and never had that problem.  Not quite sure what the difference was.

I started using leather heels 25 years ago.   Definitely solves the sticking problem.
