Title: Looking at new ball - Opinions on Columbia and Roto-Grip
Post by: T Brockette on January 16, 2012, 12:20:28 AM
Hey gang,
Probably for the last 3 years I have been using nothing but Storm / Roto-Grip equipment. I am now looking for a heavier oil ball to use, or something that can be used with heavy carry down. Before my Wednesday night league, half the house (32 lanes) are used for special needs bowlers. The shot problems this causes is that we don't get a strip and oil before league, just a fill shot, basically leaving a non existent back end on the high end of the house. I am looking at the Roto-Grip Defiant and the Columbia Dark Encounter. I know these are two different manufacturers, but if anyone is familar with both of these ball, please give me your opinion on the two......thanks in advance!

The dark encounter is suppose to be the high end ball for this year for Columbia. Not a ton of talk about it. But as for the defiant, it is a great pick up in the mids and continuation through the break point. It is a good ball to add to any line up int opinion. It isn't going to snap into the pins, but rather a strong arc.

I will also add my 2 cents, i have a DEFIANT and as stated it does pick up and roll very smooth, strong arch that continuous through the pin deck. hits very hard. it does not snap off of the break point, therefore its very controllable. i cant comment on the dark encounter, because i don't have one.
