looking for a ball
« on: April 11, 2011, 04:28:02 AM »
A buddy of mine is trying to find a ball. Here is his info

Lefty
Medium Speed about 16-18 mph
Medium Revs(my guess haven't been measured)
High Tracker

He sees a very strong reaction in midlane. Then it either just flies from there or rolls out. He is looking for a strong, yet controllable reaction.

He needs a ball that will retain energy. A lot of what he has seems to check up in the midland and be very blah on the backend.

His currently throwing in league: Raging Red Fuze and GT1

He also has these: Heist, Creature, Villain, Invasion, Hype Urethane, Slate Gargoyle

What ball would you suggest that would give him that length with a strong controlled movement.

Company does not matter.

Any suggestions will help and I will weigh the options.

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

"He also has these: Heist, Creature, Villain, Invasion, Hype Urethane, Slate Gargoyle"

Are these other balls part of the options, or are you saying that all these balls have been used and also have the same problem?

You haven't mentioned what the drilling is, lane surface, and lane conditions.

There might not be a "magic" ball - he might have a suitable ball with the "wrong" drilling for what the lanes are giving him.

Being a lefty with similar stats I have to say a red hammer backlash.

The drilling we used on this peice was a neutral drill.  Pin very high above fingers center of bridge GC 1/4 of centerline final weights are 15/16 finger and 1/4 side also took cover to 4000 abralon

Yes I am a Lefty
Good scores to all

Nomad Dagger or Reign Supreme. He needs something with a med-high RG to retain some energy. Even the Creature has a med-low RG.

I second the Nomad Dagger or Reign Supreme.  Both are similar and they will help blend out the overreaction as they're both hybrid covers.  I have the Dagger: it's clean in the front, reads the mids well, and has a great arc on the backend.  Carry is great and have no complaints since picking one up.  The Rotary Core really does well with storing energy and it hits the pins like a freight train.  Only thing is that it can be a touch over/under on the fresh.  Thats when I usually will go to my Nano in some cases for the first 1-2 games and then switch to the Dagger to close things out.
