Has anybody ever had this in their hand or wrist.
Does it ever go away.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

have it in wrists (injured playing softball - acute tendonitis in right wrist last year, tendonitis in left this year).  Had cortisone shot, wrist brace/splint and 6 weeks of therapy after season last year (right) and still experience pain every now and then (moreso when it's about to rain).  Left wrist isn't as severe but hurts more often (especially when playing softball - glove hand and bottom hand on bat).  Will get left wrist taken care of after this season.

Bowling is fine with right hand.  As stated, only hurts during bad weather, otherwise okay.  Have to maintain flexibility.

Right wrist was swollen during final 2 months of last season.  Took painkillers, wrapped tightly and played.  Ice down afterwards.  First thing I asked the hand specialist.... Can I still bowl? ..  Was able to do so, but couldn't flip the ball like I normally could (guess it was a blessing in disguise as I learned to relax and throw )

Depending on the severity of the injury, I'd definitely say (if it isn't bad), take some time off and give it a chance to heal.  Otherwise, get it checked.

one more thing, wrist brace at the drug store should help immobilize it (mine resembled an old school Robby's), but it takes time.. especially if it's tendonitis!

I just got diagnosed yesterday with tendinitis in my left hand middle finger and I will tell you this, it hurts so bad at night, it wakes me up from a dead sleep.. The doctor wants me to go to a hand specialist and have them inject some type of medicine directly into the joint.. Thats only a temporary fix, there is really nothing else they can do..

I am just glad its my left hand and not my right or I would not be able to bowl, I will tell you that..

LOL @ Jim... some painful ish isn't it? First thought I tore something in my wrist (heard and felt a pop)  Xrays showed acute tendonitis.  Damn thing was really painful when trying to maneuver certain ways.  Not quite as bad as carpal tunnel, but definitely reminded me when I tried something wrong!  I first thought it was a sprain and treated like such.  NOT!  Yes, like all injuries, R&R helps a great deal.  It's so damn difficult .. LOL

If you have tendinitis in your bowling hand, take a significant amount of time off immediately, then when a doctor says it's safe, begin to work on strengthening the area.  I didn't have it in the hand or wrist, but I did have patella tendinitis (bowling knee).  It was difficult to bowl more than a game or two, and once I realized it was literally painful to walk up stairs or anywhere not level, I realized something was pretty wrong.  Luckily, I caught it in time and so after taking a season off I'm better.  Doctor told me there are only two things you can do about bad tendinitis:  cortisone shots, which are not long term, and surgery.  However, even the surgery isn't a true fix, since it's not to restore your sporting ability, it's to make sure you still have normal use of the area.

Either way, I'd consult a physician as soon as you can.  Tendinitis is bad stuff if left alone.  I actually developed a limp unknowingly because of adjusting for the tendinitis, and it took a while to get rid of.
