Lookin for Heavy Oil ball
« on: April 17, 2005, 09:39:16 AM »
I am a low rev med speed player with oil tracks going next to fingers, and 1/2 inch away from thumb, i am looking for a heavy oil ball, i own a Storm Triple X Factor drilled stacked which wont hook unless med-light, so i am looking at a Bruswick line and some people said Nemesis, or A.I, or something, any other suggestions, i try to play straight up between 1st-2nd arrow

In the other thread you said medium heavy.  Which is it?  If it's heavy, then I'd say ultimate inferno, goliath or warp zone.  If medium-heavy, then nemesis, or maybe absolute.

well i mean not much hook in heavy, usually as far as it go still hook is med-heavy so i just gettin different opinions, see U.I is the O.I sanded down, i can get an O.I and sand it down to what U.I is, wouldnt that be the same but cheaper

You have much to learn, young grasshopper.  The UI is NOT just the original sanded down.  The UI is what's called "solid" reactive.  The OI is "pearl" reactive.  That means it has an additive put in, to make the ball go longer and break more sharply.  If you took a UI and OI, drilled them exactly the same, and made both the same grit (let's say 1000 grit), the UI would still roll earlier and smoother.

so based on my style and what has happened in the past for me with the Storm XXX what would you consider the best heavy oil ball for me to go straight up, considering i get it drilled lets say stacked like my old one, which prolly isnt what ill go for again, ill try to get someone to watch me and drill it to my style, and form

If you can't get it to hook, either your form needs work, or it's heavier oils which you can't do anything about with that ball.  But more than likely its you.  Before you go get a new ball, then another, then another, get a coach.  Believe me, it'll help.  I didn't, and I wish I had.  Do it, before you develop bad habits and use bowling balls to cover up your imperfections.  I know first hand, it's not fun having to unlearn bad things that you did, because you never had a coach.

I mean a real, certified coach, with actual lessons.  You can find one on www.bowl.com I think.  There should be a section called find a coach.  Believe me, that'd be much more useful than spending money to redrill, change surface, or buying a new ball.

Yeah. Vrey important to get a REAL coach. A youth league coach may or may not be certified as a coach. The only qualification to do this is to bowl a lot, and be WILLING to do it. You don't have to have any credentials. Get a USA Bowling CERTIFIED coach in your area to help you. And a Nemesis would probably be your best bet, but if possible grab up a Nemesis AND an AI. A Solid, and a Pearl.
