Looking for a new set of 3 Balls - Warning Long
« on: December 10, 2004, 01:45:21 PM »
Hello all, New on here and enjoying the site very much.  After a several year abscence I have been slowly getting back into bowling to the point where I have decided to greatly upgrade my Equipment.  I am looking for a nice 3 ball combination that will give me enough flexibility for most conditions.
I'm Right Handed and averaging a little over 200 in three different houses.
I throw the ball pretty hard - 17.5-19 MPH
I would say I give the ball medium revolutions with a good amount of Forward roll.
My Ideal comfort zone is standing far to the left and drifting towards the center throwing the ball around Third Arrow and getting out to around the first arrow before it breaks.
Right now I'm Using a columbia Throttle Up Drilled for length.  In most scenarios its a pretty decent ball for me, gets through the heads well and hits like a truck, but I have been strugling with it in one of the three houses where I bowl where it comes in late often and I end up leaving a lot of 7 pins and a few washouts.  Plus using it basically three nights a week everygame plus some practice it is starting to feel a little dead.
The other thing I am considering very hard is switching from 16lbs to 15lbs.  The weight isn't and issue right now as I'm 30 and don't have any problem throwing the weight night after night.  But My dad was basically forced to retire a couple years ago with Tendanitis and I don't really want to follow in his footsteps so I thought maybe a slightly lighter load would be better long term.
If your still reading my ramblings here are some of the balls I have been considering
Heavy Oil(Drilled for a slightly earlier arcing breakpoint.)
Ultimate Infero, Golaith, Maximum Velocity, and Xcel Particle

Medium Oil(Most likely the heavy load ball and something to replace the Throttle UP, Drilled for length and a sharp move to the pocket)
Nemisis, Detour, Intense Inferno,  and Velocity

Light Oil - Ice, Punisher

Open to any and all suggestions for the perfect combo.
Thanks
Bashiba

May I sugest looking at dynothane also. They have some good equipment and the soaker coverstock is about as tough as the come. A good medium ball from the would be either a thing, or element au79. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think you would go wrong with:

Ultimate Inferno
Intense Inferno
Punisher

I've noticed a lot of high speed players doing well with the Inferno series.

Brunswick Ultimate Inferno
Columbia Icon Quad / Storm X Factor
Brunswick Monster Bruiser / Revolution RevolutionIZE
Storm Hit

Think that is a pretty gd line up, i haven't gone wrong so far (I don have a bruiser, but it had a simialr shape to what my revolutionIZE used to have)
