looking for a replacement for my rival
« on: April 15, 2009, 05:29:15 AM »
Hi guys

I want to buy a new ball which is going to replace my columbia Rival.
I'm a medium speed/medium revs tweener.

I'm looking for something comparable to my Rival.
I want something with about the same length, same strong midlane, about the same total hook.
What would you guys suggest?

I'd love to try out a storm/rotogrip.

I tried a cell pearl today, but it wasn't for me. too long and too strong off the breakpoint.
I need more midlane, an earlier roll, and a smoother transition into the hook phase. But a little backend kick should be there.

Any storm/roto gear that will give me that reaction?
Otherwise I'm propably just going to order a perfect Rival.

I'm open for any suggestions.

the rogue cell might be what you're looking for, Dimension, Street Rod Solid, all good options too

The closest ball, as far as I know, would be a Storm Dimension. The Rival is one heck of a ball. Replacing its' great roll it has may be tough. The Perfect Rival actually has more of a skid/snap reaction to it, compared to the Rival original.

Hope this helps!

Just looking at the description of what you are looking for in reaction, sounds like the reaction I get out of my Grand Illusion, definitely worth a look.

The RG and differential are a little higher with the Dimension, but I'd bet you would see a very similar ball motion to the Rival.  Great midlane, and a strong but not booming backend with good continuation.

Storm, VISE-It, and Dexter get it done for me.
