new lanes

the house i bowl in just replaced its old wood lanes with synthetic.  I was wondering what changes i  can expect to see?

May not be totally correct, but you will see that the oil will hold up a little better. It will not soak into the lanes, it will carry down more. But all of this is my opinion.

I am sure someone on here can answer it more technically, but this is what I have seen happy between wood and synthetic.

The new lanes will hook alot more until they wear in alittle, backends will usually be very strong when the pattern is fresh. They will hook like wood lanes for a few months until enough games are bowled on them.

At least this has been what i have experienced at the Strike Zone at Sunset Station and the South Point casino here in Las Vegas.

Also, expect some oil trouble when the lane crew has to adapt the oil machine programs to the new surface. Since wood tends to absorb the oil, the same amount of oil will last longer and appear more "soupy" than before, so some matte or particle ball(s) should be in the bag until the machine is tuned to the new surface. Can take a couple of weeks.

dizzyfugu - U are a person of my own heart..  That will be the main problem because putting oil down on wooden lanes is different than synthetic.  First you will have to much oil and then too much oil and the backend is going to be screaming..  Hopefully your lane machine is up to date and you can control how much oil they are putting down..
