Title: Looking for some opinions....
Post by: Rock77 on November 03, 2003, 08:32:37 PM
I am looking to try some new equipment. Not that there's anything wrong with Track, I just wanna try something new. The deal is I wanna start by getting a new "heavy oil" ball. This is the area that Track doesnt impress me, all of their oil stuff goes too long, except for the SF. I am looking into the newer Hammer equipment but am open to look at all manufacturers. What ball company is known for making equipment that rolls early? I know that Brunswick was infamous for this and I found out first hand with my Zone Pro Azure(which I still have and love). Are there any heavy oil balls out there that will react like the Zone?? Like I said, I am looking for a company that makes nice arcing, early rolling equipment. Help me out.

Rock, I can't remember where I heard this or read this, but MoRich I think is coming out with a heavier oil ball soon.........they always have something interesting.

The Silver Streak Particle is a nice oil ball, along with the Fuel....with the Fuel being a bit more versatile.  My buddy has the Silver Particle and you can see this thing revving up at the arrows, and look out !!

Have you checked into a Granite Gargoyle, Burgundy Gryphon, or Charcoal Executioner yet?

The Morich Hercules could be buffed down to roll early depending on your layout.

A_P_K, yes, I heard with the layout, and surface prep, this ball can be used for heavier oil.....

Jeff,

I hope I didn't come off the wrong way, since you were suggesting a Morich ball that could possibly coming out in the future, I figured I'd add he didn't have to wait for the Hercules.

Sorry

I'm with A_P_K

The Burgandy Gryphon, or the Charcol excecutioner  are both good choices.
I have the charcol, and out of the box it was to much for house conditions.
I took it up to 1000 and it does great now.  IT's got a simple lable leverage drilling on it, from what I read you don't need to drill it stronger, but I guess if you were bowling on soup you could drill it up
strong, and sand it if need be (box 600 sanded).  Used it box condition on the out of bounds at nationals and it did fine.

AAAhhhh, sometimes it's so hard to read into the internet...

Since you're looking into newer Hammer Equipment, how about the Big Blue, Power Diesel, or Roto-Grip's Rush?...I could go on and on but I don't want to take over the thread.

I like my Raging Inferno for heavy oil.
But I like Brunswick - it rolls early.

A_P_K, I was actually on the Hammer website looking at the Big Blue. Looks like it could be something to fit the bill. However, what kind of drill pattern do I use to get a ball to roll early?? Also, when a ball rolls early, it creates heavy forward roll, right??

A CG out will cause the ball to roll early, but you'll also have to take into consideration the High MB core it employs.  I'm still pretty sure a CG out with the MB either in the VAL or PAP will create the earliest/most roll.  Verify with others if you're still a little unsure because I may be ify.

I'm also a little unsure of the heavy forward roll part, I mean balls like the Charcoal Ex roll at the arrows so I'd have to say it would be how fast the core stabilizes and changes direction from skid to roll...???

I would try the following, given what you say you like: (1) Swamp Monster (frankly, I think you'd like this alot, and its not too expensive); (2) Super Carbide Bomb; or (3) The Visionary Scorcher.

Philip, you know, the Swamp Monster has crossed my mind many times. It is supposed to be similar to the Zone Pro I currently use, right??

BTW, how would a V2 particle fit the bill in this department??
