Looking for Suggestions
« on: August 29, 2018, 09:30:40 PM »
I've been talking about upgrading my ball for a couple years now. Before the next fall season starts, was hoping for some input so I might finally make the switch. I currently roll a Twisted Fury or a Track 505T depending on the lanes... Even pull out the 20 year old Gyro in a pinch. haha.

My main ball is the Twisted Fury. I switch to 505T if it is dryer or i forget how to be consistent with the Fury after a couple brews.  So I would be looking for a ball comparable to the Twisted Fury.

Although I roll in multiple leagues, I rarely compete in high skilled leagues or tournaments anymore. So not looking to drop a massive amount.

Any input will help. Thanks guys!

Ok since nobody gave you a suggestion so far here is mine if looking for a good value with similar numbers to your Fury.  Pyramid makes some good stuff for great prices but sure the staffers on here will have some other recommendations.

No problem.  I was looking for a medium diff ball with a fairly decent asym core for a good price.  If you want my opinion for the best ball(s) on house shot it is the Storm Hy-Road and or the Venom Shock.  Both those balls are symmetric though (is what I prefer) but they are also both very reasonably priced.  The Blood Moon can probably handle a bit more oil though and would be slightly stronger than either but Venom Shock for whatever reason is deceptively strong for me.

If you liked the twisted fury motion and wanted to stay with Brunswick I'd take a look at the Vintage Inferno. You can get them at a very good price right now. Think Buddies has them for $75. It's a perfect middle of the road/benchmark ball.

Both the suggestions above are excellent. DV8 does have quite a few asyms. Buddies Pro Shop is usually the go to for Brunswick brands at close out prices.

Going from a Twisted Fury to any of the suggested balls in your thread is like going from night to day.  All those balls are 2-3 steps up from the old oil handling ability of a TF.  Even the Venom Shock is much above a TF.  I would term the TF now in the light-medium category at best and all the balls suggested are in the medium and above categories.  I would take that into account with your bowling stats.

Honestly, new Roto Grip Winner looks like it'll give similar motion on todays oils. Clean down the lane and strong backend.

Winner huge difference to total hook a to a TF.   If the OP is using a TF now for his strike ball in the same environment/lane condition he would have to move much deeper inside to use a Winner.  Is the OP going to be able to do this?  That's the main question and my point.

Hammer has released the Vibes again and they are very good balls, I just purchased the cherry vibe and I am well satisfied and they come with a 3 year warranty. I got mine from Buddies drilled with slug and inserts for $124.95.

Would he though? Kind of ignore the diff number on the winner. That Winner coverstock has so much length and ignores the friction for so long that he can play rather close to the dry.

We'll let the OP respond to his comfort zone and bowling stats.  But I do notice this....as a responder to this thread every ball in your 18 - 19 rotation are strong Storm/RG balls.  I don't see anything light to light-medium which on a house shot wet/dry ball using a Twisted Fury which came out in 2007 there is no correlation IMO.  Other than the HyRoad Pearl.

Prospect Rotation ('18-'19 Season):
Code X
No Rules Pearl
Phaze II
Code Black
Marvel Pearl
IQ Tour Solid
Hy-Road Pearl

Not sure I understand what my rotation has to do with a suggested replacement ball for the Twisted Fury. Again, not that it matters but I also bowl sport shot and don't need anything lower than what I have, but my equipment has no bearing on a Twisted Fury replacement lol.
