wrist pain
« on: August 30, 2008, 03:25:30 PM »
ok, so yesterday i went bowling (my usual 5 game set), well about an hour or 2 after i was done, my wrist started stiffening up. later that nite, i iced it but it only began to hurt sharply as i tried to sleep. now any movement produces a sharp pain on the top of my hand, basically centered at the joint. I kno its not a broken bone prolly becuz i can move my hand freely, its just painful. also it seems the muscle connecting my thumb to my wrist is also hurt becuz anytime i raise it up it produces the same sharp pain. this is the first time ive ever had any pain like this. there has been stiffness in the past but nothing more
any ideas as to wut is ailing me?
any tips on relief?

My first suggestion, & most on here will agree, if this is a new pain, & its that bothersome(more than a slight ache).   SEE A DOCTOR ASAP.

There is no real way to tell what the problem is without an x-ray.  It could be something serious, or something really minor, the point is, b4 causing permanent damage, u should see a doctor.

Potentially tendonitis. Again, potentially...

Like the above posters have said see a doctor ASAP. I would suggest asking for an MRI instead of just an x-ray as the x-ray doesn't show soft tissue damage.

I had that happen back in 07.  I thought just rest would suffice, a year later....

You get the point.  See a doctor.

Do you curl your pinky under when you bowl?  If so, that produces a lot of strain on the back of the hand and the wrist.

A trip to the doc is not a bad idea.
