Looking To Replace Tropical Heat Hybrid
« on: February 15, 2018, 09:27:12 PM »
A friend is looking for a current ball that would react about the same.  Any suggestions? I'm not familar with that ball.
Thanks.

I'd be interested in hearing an answer as I used to have one of those.

Which Tropical Heat? Closest balls in my opinion are the Hustles or Match Ups. Depending on the version can get you a bit closer.
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta

Just to clarify, one of the hybrids was Black and Purple and the other was black and silver. The HYB is close to the black and purple while the Hustle Ink is fairly close to the black and silver.

Match up

Or

If u want the same core....try a monster Boogeyman. ...the tropical heats were produced by 900g for storm. That core is still being made for another company.

You're welcome 😎
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

the turbine core was before the 900G deal. While the Boogeyman has a very similar shape, it's a smidge different. Diff is also .02 more. Still close enough to try though. I loved my TH black purple.

Problem with the Boogeyman is it's a pearl and it's not a Reactor coverstock. Even if the core is a "match up", the cover being so different will give a very different reaction.

I'd suggest the Match Up Hybrid. The core is similar in shape, the coverstock is theoretically, the same  (Storm may have tweaked the Reactor coverstock a little in the intervening years). All it may require is a strong pin position and/or a P3/P4 to increase the differential closer to what the Tropical Heat core had.

I had the Match Up solid, and currently have the Match Up pearl. Neither is a drier lane ball. I’d put them in the category of very sub-par lower medium pieces. Maybe the hybrid is OK but I suspect it’s going to be stronger than a Tropical Heat.

I’m really liking the Ebonite Turbo/R hybrid I recently got. I can square up in the dirt in second shift THS, and as long as I stay firm with the speed, the ball is controllable. It’s one of the few lower end balls I’ve owned that I have confidence in using when it counts.

Boost Hybrid. Numbers are almost identical.

But, Steven, he didn't say he wanted a dry lanes ball; he only wants to replace the Tropical Heat Hybrid.

Agreed there. The Tropical Heat was not a dry lane ball in my opinion.

True. I injected dry where I shouldn't have.

Still, I'm confused about the reaction the original poster is looking for. Some of the suggested replacements so far are completely different. A Boost Hybrid and a Match Up Hybrid are very different in overall strength.

The bowler is a senior with low speed and revs, right handed.  He said his favorite ball was his old Heat Hybrid but it was now too heavy to use so he wanted something to replace it in a much lighter weight, probably 10-11#.  Also would prefer to play 2nd arrow.

I originally suggested either the Black Cherry Tropical Storm Hybrid or the Hustle Ink but decided that I did not really know the Heat Hybrid so I asked for suggestions here as I am not really familar with that many of the other options that may be available.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Edited to add:

House has old Brunswick synthetic Anvilanes.  They own two different lane machines, one a Kegel that puts out a 42' house shot and the other is a newer Brunswick machine that puts out a modified 39' house shot.  Sorry, can't recall names of patterns.  Which shot we bowl on depends on who is working as mechanic or who oils the lanes as different people prefer different lane machines.  Usually, the seniors bowl on the 42' most days.
