Shoe help
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:01:12 AM »
I have a pair of the Dynarooz Tour Ultras. They are great shoes, but I have a question regarding use on synthetic approaches.

What sole and heel combinations have you found to work the best for synthetics? Primarily I need feedback from folks who actually slide. Those folks that plant and throw, and could bowl in tennis shoes, aren't going to help me much. I currently bowl on all wood approaches, but for the occasional tournament I need a starting point for my shoes.

I am currently using the #4 leather sole, and the smooth rubber heel, which I believe is the #4 heel.

Thanks for any help.

our association has 5 houses and they all have wood approaches. i'm like you in that i like to slide. i too use the #4 deerskin sole but use the adjust-a-heel with the gray felt insert. i've used these shoes on synthetic approaches and had to use the #2 felt sole and the orange backskin heel.....and this was barely enough slide. i almost bought a slide sock for such occasions.

I have Dexters and use the #7 waffle sole with the horse shoe shaped white heel. I do slide more than most and for me, this combination works best. Probably the best thing to do is try different combinations. Good luck and I hope you soon have 10 in the pit.

Try the Bowler's Slide Sock (link below) and find the right heel to go with it.  It's a great, inexpensive product.  I wouldn't be surprized if you decide to use it all the time.  --  JohnP

Thanks guys. I have heard good things about the bowlers slide sock, that may be worth a try. I have also heard that it seems to allow you to slide the same regardless of the approach.

Every time I bowl on synthetics it seems it is a tournament so it has been hard to really try a lot of combinations. But that would be the best way.
