Just got my new XFactor Reloaded drilled, my driller drilled my thumbhole pretty deep, I assume to make it double as a weight hole?

Anyhow, at the end of the hole there is an opening, looks like he put some blue plastic crap in it to fill it in.

However, everytime I pull my thumb out I'm getting little pieces of this blue plastic as well as little white grains, like pieces of sand. It's not a bunch of it, but everytime a little comes out.

Is this standard procedure? Or is my fear accurate, did he drill too deep and break the core or something?

This ball set me back some green... I need help.

When you drill deep into the ball, you usually hit the weight block/core. The green piece looks like it's part of the core, maybe a piece/rod that holds the dual density core part. Your driller did not put this in to fill it.

Sometimes, the core doesn't cure totally and/or have enough binder resin mixed in with the core material. This is why there is some dust coming out, because the mix didn't have enough moisture to harden it properly. I would drop the ball on a cement floor to shake out all the dust from the core/thumbhole. After 1 or 2 times, it should all be out. =:^D

I'm more worried that little pieces of the blue/green plastic is coming out, little chunks.

After all that is loose comes out can this create problems? Can more come loose?

The dust could also just be from beveling or sanding out the hole after drilling, that's pretty normal. I think T-God hit it for you, it actually looks like your driller did a good job. I don't think there's anything he would have done, especially since there's not a slug in the ball. Normal thumb depth is between 2 1/2 and 3 inches.

I tapped the ball a few times, then blew some air into the hole to blow out the remaining dust, and now it seems to be coming out clean. I'm not getting anymore pieces of plastic, so I figure it's alright now.

I have only ever bowled with used balls, I have never even had a ball drilled so I had little knowledge of what to look for.

However, I used a guy who came well recommended and felt comfortable using him.

Anyhow, thanks again for the info all, I cant wait to get this ball on a lane!
