Interesting theory.. And while I can agree with it, I'm going to debate the other way, playing Devil's Advocate.
I would think that it not only depends on the backswing, but how much hand you could put in the ball as well. cases in point:
Rudy K (I can never spell that guy's name right). If I remember right, he had a very high backswing, but his revs were crazy.
Rash. Same thing.
On the amateur side, Robert Flunder IV. He has just as high a backswing as Rudy, but he could rev it up as well, depending on the pattern.
Compare that to, say, DJ Archer.
I guess my point is that there are exceptions to the rule, so it could go either way.
