I am drastically changing my arsenal now due to the strong bowling balls being too much overall giving me a bad look. My lower priced bowling balls (with the exception of the Scream) have drastically underperformed over the past 7 months. I am drilling up a Byte and a Wipe Out tomorrow and I have the opportunity to pick up another ball for a low price. My options are the Rising Star, Freeze, Emerald Vibe, and the Uproar. Which ball would be worth picking up? My arsenal consists of the Asylum, IQ Tour, Wipe Out, Byte, and the Scream. I guess I am looking for something to bridge the gap between my Byte and Scream. A quick reply would be much appreciated due to the limited time. Thanks in advanced!

Really any of those 4 should fill that gap quite nicely. I'd say pick based off of price or color because all of those should work well in that spot.
My vote would be for the Emerald Vibe because I love the vibe core and feel it is very user friendly

Of those, id go Uproar.

Rising Star was a great ball. See the Wrecker and you'll know why.

The Rising Star was one of my favorites. For a lower end ball, you definitely got your money's worth.
-
I vote Freeze--very versatile with a smooth arc.
-
I agree on the uproar but wouldn't consider it a low end.
-
Can't go wrong with a Vibe!
-
ya freeze or vibe. with balls that old just look at the condition of the ball. if one of them looks really beat up i would pass on it
-
+1 on the vibe. That core has been money for a long time

Why the Vibe over the Uproar?

Rook:
I work with a few higher rev players that have trouble with high performance equipment, especially balls with stronger shells and low RG cores. Your rev rate/ball speed combined with balls that want to "tumble and grab" can be overkill and cause those balls to roll so early that they get to the pins with no energy. You can probably see this, if you're right handed, and see the ball hit the headpin and deflect toward the 9 pin instead of shooting toward the 8 pin, the latter being more ideal in my book.
For those higher rev players, I tend to put them in medium-high RG balls (2.52-2.58) and/or lower differential (.035-.045 at the most), with somewhat stronger layouts, with surface, pins 3.25-4.5" from PAP. When those players deal with more friction, I just use those same balls, use less surface, and use pins 5-6" from their PAP.
Keep in mind those stronger drills with surface can might actually help you out in those higher friction environments where it'll just "burn" in the mids and just stay in the headpin, if the carry will allow you.
Balls that are under 2.51RG and more than .050 differential will likely cause you more problems than good.
The ones I've been pushing lately (in no particular order) are: Gamebreaker 2, LT 48, Uproar, Cyclone Solid/Pearl (depending on your needs), Blur Solid, Blur Pearl, Hy road series, Dude/Rude Dude, Misfit/Outcast, Wipeout series.
You've got plenty of options. Try to find a shop that knows a bit about how RG, differential, and Ra relate to your game, if you can. If not, there's a few good people out here.
Good luck!
