Muscle and early timing? When have you watched me bowl, Rico? To the OP, just an FYI that this can be tough to fix if muscle and early timing are what's causing it. I've been working to lower my backswing for 5 years, and I just can't seem to fully work it out. As others have said, try to just let the weight of the ball move it through the phases of the swing. If you can do that, simple starting position adjustments may do the trick.
