Loyalty to Friend -v- Ball Company
« on: March 24, 2004, 02:58:26 AM »
let's say that you have a guy who's been drilling your equipment and helping you out with your game for years.  you like the guy, and respect him as a person and a bowler.  he's your friend.

let's say that this shop operator/bowler has been supporting a particular ball company, selling alot of their product in an area where the company is less known.

now, this guy gets kinda screwed over with his shop situation, and closes down.  starts working in another shop for another guy.  they sell less of this company's balls, but the guy wants to increase that business.

so anyway, he's about to start bowling in some tournaments, and needs some new equipment.  he calls up this company to ask for some help, some discount on his personal use balls.  not free, but just a discount.  the company basically says no to the guy, after several years of his support for this very company.

so, he changes companies to another one that helps him out.  he's pissed at the old company, and you're pissed at their treatment of your buddy, too.

you have several of this "old" company's balls . . . you're pissed at them . . . would you get rid of them so show support for your friend, or keep using them?  you like the equipment, but there are other balls that you like, too . . .

i think i'm gonna get rid of mine . . . not gonna make a stink out of it . . . but i'm gonna sell that brand of equipment off and not buy anymore . . .

would you do the same??

I could understand not buying new stuff, but getting rid of your current stuff doesn't do anything to the old company. In fact, by selling or giving your stuff away, you might make a convert to that company out of the person buying your old equipment.
The company has already received any money they would receive from your current equipment.
