LT-48
« on: July 12, 2011, 10:03:48 PM »
My local center has a brand new Johnny Petraglia LT-48. Is this worth picking up for $60? My intent is using it on drier lane conditions. Any thoughts?

Which one.  The original soft rubber or the reactive model made in the 90s?

If there is friction rubber will still tend to grip the lane. If there is that much friction drill a polyester ball. Probably more controllable.

I'd put it on the shelf as a collector's piece.  It will roll earlier than plastic.

Best as a collectors item.  It had such a high friction shell that it would roll out on almost any pattern.  I have used rubber balls along with polyester and urethane on the new conditions.  Best rubber balls if you can find them are the old black diamonds, not the soft rubber shells.  Rubber rolls a lot different than polyester.  I found conditions where the black diamond hit harder than soft polyester, or even urethane.

No weight block.  3 piece pancake like every other ball made at that time.  I can recommend a dozen balls better on dry conditions than an LT-48.  Slingshot, Tropical Breeze both better choices and not much more money.  Heck drilling a White Dot leveraged would be a better choice.
