Well said Ex, being a shop owner and in the business for some time, people did use to ask what ball a pro was throwing but not anymore other then to satisfy simple curiosity. Question for you guys now..is the non caring brought on because you don't see the loyalty to one manufacturer from a PBA member or because you feel that you can score on your own without having the latest and greatest thrown by the PBA? Remember, there was a time when everyone didn't have a dozen 300 rings under their belt...those guys WERE special. Just curious...
TH834, I've also got your back. The newer equipment is there to make the 160's into 180, 180 into 200, and 200 into 220. It was meant to bring the lower bowlers up to speed and level out the playing field and yes it has accomplished that. Did it make the 220 bowlers into 240? Look at the pros, what do they average week to week? Have they gone to 240 plus every week..I don't think so. If it wasn't for technology, you would still have guys at starting at 150 and retiring after 40 years with 175, 180 maybe. Bones knows what I'm talking about. Again, we don't allow aluminum in pro baseball, NCGA stopped it at titanium in golf, but the ABC did not stop technology in our sport. They tried with 72 hardness and static weight controls and that doesn't even matter anymore. For the players who had some kind of hand before, you have to either fluff it now or look for older, less hooking equipment to use. Now, am I complaining because I have been surpassed because of technology?? YOU"RE DARN RIGHT!!!
...lol Just my opinion guys....
