Here's a clip from the 1986 U.S. Open with TWO big guys - Steve Cook vs. Frank Ellenburg (6'-7" vs. 6'-4"). Not a real long clip, but you can see the styles.

Save it - I'm only going to leave it up for a couple of days.

More Cook trivia -

He OWNED Earl on TV.

I believe Chris Warren got his first title against Cook. That's all they were talking about during the match - The Biggest vs. The smallest - the David vs. Goliath matchup.

Back in 1979, when I was 17, I bowled in a Jr. Pro-Am in Amarillo, TX.  The pros I got to bowl w/ were Gip Lentine, Roy Buckley, and Steve Cook.  At 17, I was about 5'5" and weighed in at about 120.  Even though Steve was the nicest guy to bowl with, he was INTIMIDATING!!!  He was very nice to us kids, and I thoroughly enjoyed bowling w/ him.  Especially after Buckley was a jerk.

Awesome clip RandyO, do you have any more you can post? How about listening to Chris Schenkel and Bo Burton, they were hands down THE best commentators in bowling, I really miss'em.

I'm gonna leave this one up for a few days, then I'll post a clip containing snippets of one of my all time favorite title matches! You will all just love this one.

Fonz Man your a genius. Randy O too. I love the Steve Cook approach. I have never seen him bowl before but that almost mirror images mine. And I used to hve that columbia ball when I first started. Funny I don't remember it hooking that much!
--------------------
I realized that I am a bum! The more I learn the worse I bowl. The faster my feet the more I strike. Why?? I can't tell you why cause I don't know myself. I have learned that you perfect what you do best and be good at what you do. Loft the ball, fast feet, whatever, just enjoy the game and don't complain when you lose. Learn from it and move on.
"I live to bowl but great bowlers bowl to live."-my philosophy.

I have left a pocket 3-9 with a 16lb bowling ball. How'd I do it?????? UHHHHH IOONO Practice James has yet to step up to tourney James.
