Supposedly, (nice word!!!!) technology is supposed to be able to eliminate the style and allow all styles to compete. I think that is exactly what we saw with Garber... the ability to use technology, eliminate style (rev rate, ball speed..etc) and point it at the pocket and still strike. Duke, WRW have been doing it for years. WRW does not have a "standard" style either however repeatbale. Hooking it on THS is one thing as it creates strikes... but, straighter is greater for the dough. Albeit Garbers approach is unique, I think it demonstrates the fact that, today its not about anything more than repeating (even a terrible approach) and having the right ball in your hand at the right time.
