Idiot Bowler
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:51:32 AM »
I can't beleive what happened in league. A guy with eleven in a ROW decides he is going to get an 8 count on his last ball. WHY? HE WANTED A 298 RING!!!

WELL THE DUMB #%#^ GETS HIS 8 COUNT, then finds out there is NO 298 RING!!

THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY!! He was steamed about it.

But this ticks me off....people like this should lose their USBC card.

Okay listen,

It's like this "we" the bowlers did this to the sport! We did it with all the "house hacks" b^tching and complaining about how there is no oil on the lanes or the left side is walled up, or I'm going to the other center in my town because there I'm 20 pins higher! I'm sick of it! Then here "meaning all bowling forums" everyone b^tches and complains about how easy the lanes are! I know I'm good but I also know I'm not good enough to carry a higher 230 ave in multiple houses. You want to bring back some honor to honor scores, then INSIST that your house shot be harder!!! Bowl in a sport shot league,if there isn't one START one! bowling 300 on a THS is a JOKE after your 1st one! My only other 300's that I remember are the one's that I bowled on either a PBA or sport pattern! I would love to go back to a time were 240's win pots and 700's crush the brackets!

So before you pass any type of judgement on anyone think about how many times you cried about the shot or complained that the left and right is different. remember this is still a business to the bowling center operator and if putting down an easier shot will quiet the masses that's what he will do! It's on us the bowlers to let them know that we want them tougher and them people wont be so quick to throw away a 300!

Sorry for the length, reading this thread just got under my skin.

Sorry Bizz,

But I have to disagree with you. USBC is to blame for the start of this. Most bowlers when this all started HAD NO CLUE what was going on (The OIL is invisible to them and the ball is still round).

With over 10 years of this things have gotten fine tuned.

1. Manufacturers are smarter. Lots of Research and Development to combat the various oil volumes and patterns faced with the bowler. They always seemed to be one step a head of everyone else.

2. Ball Drillers are smarter (Sometimes I think they are the ones that should get the awards instead of the bowler!). These guys are very talented and skilled at their trade.

3. Center owners are smarter (The know how the oil machine works, they make sure its going to put out a high scoring shot...I am not arguing that point with them).

4. Lane Surfaces and Oil are better.

To me the USBC seemed to be always be one step behind. They have started to fix things but in my opinion the damage has been done. If restrictions would have been put in place sooner this would NOT be happenning NOW.

For you statement....(Assuming when I am not scoring well) Times I have complained is ZERO. I don't put blame somewhere else for poor performance on my part...AND I AM GOING STATE that most on here are the same way.

Trash,

I wasn't referring to you personally (because I don't know you) I'm generalizing, I don't want you to take it as a personal attack. In general bowlers blame everything else first. There was some discussion about splitting bowling into 3 or 4 categories with different award for each. Does anyone know if that is still a possibility?

Bizz,

Sorry. Retract on that statement to you. PBA experience and Sport leagues are USBC's option to fix the problem...its a good idea...and the awards are separate from regular league. This should of been done long ago, it just seemed to be a mystery to everyone in the 90s.

Hopefully more bowlers will come around to these kind of leagues. The big problem is getting them to understand that scores will drop and its okay (And I think in time will get better, but its that initial shock to get through). You have a lot of fragile egos in league bowling. Take away someone's 200 something average might cause them to quit.

So we are stuck with what we got. I am going to propose to my league that we try a variation of the THS next year (And if the center agrees have shots alternate every other week). Someone on here suggested taking the oil out to 5 instead of 10. I am actually thinking of seeing what it will be like to lengthen the oil too.

This idea isn't just for me. We have bowlers in league that are older and can't throw a ball 18 to 19 mph. So their ball rolls out too soon. Let's give them a little more oil.

The center I bowl in caters to high speed and low rev players. It makes sense for them as a business decision. That's what most bowlers here are. I am not stating its bad its just different.
