Magic Carpet Gathering Update
« on: June 06, 2005, 05:01:42 AM »
Here's the latest.  Thought I would try and consolidate everything down and find it in one place.

Ball Reviews / Bowl 4 Fun.com gathering July 22-24

Here is a Yahoo map of where Creekside Lanes is located.
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=1450+trademart+blvd&csz=winston+salem%2Cnc&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=

Creekside Lanes

My email address if you need more info:

The hotel I suggest is Extended Stay America. It is clean and cheap!
Use the Winston Salem / Hanes Mall location.
You can find it on www.extendedstayamerica.com for a map. It just one exit from the bowling center.

mmike1053 -- I don't know which direction you'll be coming from, but if you have the time, the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great drive, wonderful mountain scenery.  Don't be in a hurry, though, speed limit is 45 mph and traffic actually moves closer to 35.  There are quite a few places to get on/off, so you don't have to drive it all.  It starts in Cherokee, NC and turns into the Skyline Drive in VA.  --  JohnP

If any of you are race fans you may want to take a tour a Richard Childress Racing.
If you like wine Richard has a winery as well that you can visit.

Old Salem is a nice walk through. It is part of the orgional town of Salem before it joined Winston to become Winston-Salem.
Some of the buildings in Salem are pre 1776.

ThongP,
LOL I don't know how ready I can be. I will be closer to where you live in Ca. than where I live for the two weeks prior to the gathering.

PS if I paid Magic and King all the beers I really owe they may have to roll them out of local places of liquid enjoyment for several weeks each...nightly in a wheelbarrow!

LL, thanks for the e-mail.  I know you're going to be real busy during that time frame but I sure hope you can fit it into the schedule.

Just imagine, Luckylefty giving us the perfect fit, KOTM giving us the perfect drilling, MagicCarpet giving us the perfect delivery.  Going to be a great gathering.

mmike1053 -- I40 crosses the BR Parkway just east of Ashville.  You would have to consider it a side trip since it's heading away from WS.  The Biltmore house is also a great stop.  --  JohnP

REPOST...still just wondering if anyone is looking for a roomie that weekend. I already told work I'd be out that weekend, so unless the old SUV dies on me, I'll be there!

Big Willy Style

PS... how far away is South of the Border from there? isn't it between NC and SC? I used to pass it as a kid on the way up to PA... never got to stop there!

Bump

Made it back to my house in Mobile for the last time.  Thank goodness someone else has to pack and move all of this stuff!  My cue is made by Amerola.  Don't know if they're still around or any good...  I think it's made of nylon; supposed to never bend or break.

I will have a house soon, but won't take possession until just after the gathering, or else I'd offer to put someone up.

South of the Border is quite a ways east of WS and just across the border in SC.  I don't remember which Interstate it's on.  --  JohnP

South Of The Border is about 3 hours away in Dillion SC.
Don't know why anyone would go there but you asked.

Added Lexlefty & his brother.  Probably going to have to order a merkin for RonC after this group gets done with him.

Check the list, is there anyone I've left out?
