Magic Carpet Question...
« on: March 14, 2006, 12:40:02 PM »
Went bowling Sunday,...my thumb swells...anyways, I got stuck in the ball, I guess you could say,the ball doesnt come off my hand until well into the upswing. Currently I have the rounded side up. Should I put the rounded side down for a "quicker release" or should I open up the hole? Positive I am not knuckling or grabbing either, got stuck even going v e r y  s l ow ... Thanks!

(P.S.: Before MC I had 5 pieces of black tape in the hole w/some room to spare!)

I've been using MC for over a year.  I have it installed round side up with 3-5 pieces of white tape in the front.  It's a tight squeeze in the morning, but almost falls off during evening league.  Regardless, I don't stick.  If you find yourself jamming your thumb in the hole, you may need to open it up some.

Try opening it up.  I always open the thumbhole up for when my thumb is the largest, then put tape in the front of the ball to snug it up when the thumb shrinks.  The Magic Carpet is good for allowing some room for swelling, but if your thumb is really swollen, you should open the thumbhole up.

PS this is assuming a proper fit to begin with and the correct pitches and that you do not 'bend' or squeeze with your thumb.
