Mid Priced ball 14# options
« on: February 21, 2009, 02:19:46 PM »
I think I am in the market for a 14# ball and don't really know what I want to try..  I do know that I am having issues with my arm hand and wrist and would like to lower my ball weight until I feel better, so I am looking for suggestions..  Probably be a ball I just use on a THS for leagues...

Currently I have

 Black Widow
 Sauce
 Doom
 Target Zone
 Maxxx Zone
 Shift
 Dimension
 Total NV
 Neptune
 Kinetic Energy
 Rising
 Break Pearl

Any suggestions?

Um... I looked in your profile and those are the same balls that you already have. I'm guessing your dropping weight correct? Well, if I was you I would want to try something else just to see if you like it or not. When you go back up then sell the 14#, and get another one like it. For whatever weight that you do throw.

I would duplicate your favorite #15 ball right down to the layout. That way you can make a direct comparison to the #15 ball and you can be sure you'll have a ball that will work for you.

Black Widow Pearl.  Now I don't know your conditions or style.  But we've sold tons of these from 12lbers to 16s and everyone loves them.  So If you were in our area, in the centers around here where the shot is generally outside 10 board usually around 7 to 5, the Black Widow Pearl would give you great power and movement for the price even at the 14lb weight.  Otherwise you are going to give up carry.

The Hammer Vibe seems like a good place to start.

Yeah, I think I might go with a vibe..  That sounds like a good idea..

And the list of balls are the ones I currently have, not ones I am looking at..

Love my Vibe, but it is not good on the fresh oil.  I am very pleasantly surprised with a new Columbia Rival I just picked up.  With some foot and hand adjustments this ball seems to handle heavy to light oil.  I find it much easier to control than other medium-heavy oil balls I've tried, including the Gravity Shift, Break Pearl, and Venom.

I read somewhere that Chris Barnes said the Rival handles 80% of the lane conditions he sees.  Just a thought.
