« on: March 12, 2012, 06:46:11 PM »
Unfortunately, too many newspapers have cut back or eliminated bowling coverage competely.

We have the Texas High School finals and the College sectionals here.  Not a peep out of the Dallas Morning News.  They do not even publish the times for the PBA.

I looked in The Chicago Sun-Times the day after PDW won the U.S. Open (the U.S. Open ffs!)  Not a mention.

But believe it or not their was a half a paragraph in the Tribune after PDW's win.
On the last page of the sports section tucked down in the bottom of the page.

All too often, unless a newspaper has a dedicated bowling columnist who actually bowls and loves the sport (and believes that bowling deserves good newspaper coverage), bowling is probably going to receive LOW-PRIORITY TREATMENT.

There are too many sports editors who could care less about bowling, and that fact reflects on the coverage -- or in most cases, the NON-COVERAGE -- that bowling receives.

The newspaper in my area had a bowling column and bowling reports until a few years ago but for some reason the column no longer appears and bowling is never mentioned, local or pro or otherwise.

If Obamacare is so great why are so many waivers being asked for and given?

Then again, perhaps bowlers don't really care any more as to whether or not their local newspaper cover their sport any longer.
