The best bowling I've ever seen (updated)
« on: July 30, 2008, 10:10:30 PM »
Tonight was the last night in a summer scratch singles league I bowl in.  Normally we bowl 4 games, but last week and last night we bowled 6 to make up for not bowling next week.

Aaron Buss is a bowler from Freeport, IL.  He came into tonight averaging a crazy 246.17, and that's after dropping it from 251 last week.

His first 3 games were 300, 289 (spare, next 10, 9 count), and 279 for a new Rockford city record of 868.  That's a career night for almost anyone, but it actually got better.

Aaron then went 258-279-300 for his final 3 for an 837.  1705 for 6 games!!  Me and a lot of the guys were just in awe when thinking about this accomplishment.  66 strikes out of a possible 72.  And it couldn't have happened to a nicer, more down-to-earth guy.

In my eyes, the most impressive thing is that we move pairs after every game.

He used an Ultra Zone for all 6 games I believe.  Congratulations to you Aaron.

WOW,that is amazing. I'd probably have to bowl 10-12 games to get 66 strikes. Well done.

We bowled an extra 2 games last week and an extra 2 last night to make up for the 4 we won't be bowling next week.

Tom-
Yes it is a sanctioned league.  I was wondering about the USBC record but was unsure because we normally only bowl 4 games and only bowled 6 to help make up for the extra week.

Is Aaron in anyway related to Jesse Buss? Jesse is a sick bowler and also from Freeport.

They are indeed related, but I'm not quite sure how.  I believe Jesse is his younger brother.  There are a ton of them that bowl and I can't keep them all straight  They are all good bowlers and good people.

Well this past Saturday Aaron was off a bit from that late summer day last year.  In the weekly King of the Hill tourney he only went 269-280-279 for 828.  Since that wasn't enough, he got into match play and went 254-300-279 for an 833.  He didn't win the tourney though.  That honor goes to wrongsider and ballreviews member justanotherlefty805.

Congrats to both Aaron and Mike for some outstanding bowling.
