Marvel shine or Marvel Pearl?

Just got the Marvel and right away my driller says that shining this up will work great. So should I get this one shined or just get the Marvel Pearl? Thx.

A polished Marvel solid (smoother) and a Marvel Pearl (more flippy) are two different animals.
Don't you trust your driller?

Yes I do trust my driller it's just he mentioned that the Marvel polished is awesome so my question is should I get another Marvel and have it polished or get the Marvel Pearl. He's already given me the choice I was wondering what you all thought about it kind of seeing what others would do.

Or better: what do you want the ball to do, or for what purpose do you want it? Adding polish will get the ball easier through the heads, and also make the breakpoint sharper, by tendency. Compared with a pearl version, though, with the same layout and surface, the solid ball should still be slightly smoother and easier to control. The solid will handle less/shorter oil with the polished surface. What your ball driller means with "works great" is beyond me - maybe he knows that your house lacks oil notoriously, then it would make IMO sense, because it would widen the utility window of the ball.

Why dont you buy a second solid, put the same layout on it but make one 1000 + polish and one 4000 + polish and if you dont find what you want buy a pearl?

Throw the ball dull. Then polish it and try throwing it that way. See which reaction you like better. If you don't like the polish, you can always sand the ball to take the polish off it.

 

(And no, a polished solid coverstock and a pearlized coverstock will not give you the same reaction.)

Pretty much what everyone else is saying too, do you need it to be polished? In what context was he saying to polish it: either you are not getting great reaction with the ball (dry lanes maybe) or is he just giving you a suggestion just based off of what he or others have experienced with the ball?

 

Also, if you only want one ball and the Marvel isn't getting it done for you then maybe a surface change is in order depending on what you need (duller or shinier). If you want to have an arsenal and have the finances, then getting the pearl isn't a bad idea either.

 

I would say throw the ball and see for yourself whether you like it or not. If you like it, stick with it. If you want a pearl to go with it, go ahead and get a pearl.
