I've been hearing good things about the 'Wipe it Dry pad' from Master industries.

Also, I'm curious how similar these are to leather chamois, because they are significantly cheaper.

$20 is my favorite price point.  I'll try anything for a 20 if it seems to be a viable product.

I always towel my ball off regardless . . for me anyway it helps me keep a better eye on my true ball reaction.  If I miss a move because I'm trying to keep oil on the surface of the ball to get extra length, that may hurt more than help.  Plus, backend reaction will be the same regardless unless you have a ball that doesn't flare.  I realize that extra length would change a few things about the shot shape, but the flare rings that happen after the ball hits the backend will always be dry unless they pick up a tad bit of carrydown here and there.  Definitely not saying there's anything wrong with leaving the oil on the ball on drier or broken down conditions, but for me it just opens the door to missing moves, and some inconsistency or unpredictability.  It sounds just fine if you split your target every time, but if you miss outside your track where there's still oil and already have oil on the ball, you're getting less traction than normal, and that could have an adverse affect . . and now you have me rambling . . lol . .

Would you still use this on dry/broken down lane conditions?

I may need to invent the competing product that actually puts oil back on the surface of your ball....for additional length and controlling backend reaction...

Shamwow doesn't having backing and you thought it would work.
Just a suggestion for someone to try that maybe interested. Not doubting the usefulness of the product.

What I meant is for some that don't believe in the product or don't want to spend the money....a shamwow or chamois maybe a viable alternative.

I was just in an auto supply store and the natural chamois towel I saw had the following instructions:
"Do not use with strong chemicals or to wipe grease or oil."
If you were using it ONLY to wipe oil off a bowling ball, I suppose it should be ok.

Ha, I just got an Octane and a Wipe-it-dry as well.

It's amazing how dirty the pad got in just one set.  I think that means it's really picking up a lot of oil and dirt, which is great, but I wonder how often it will need to be cleaned.

I think it really is a great product.

I have been using it for a few weeks and it is a wonderful product.  cleaning it requires leather cleaner and time to dry out before next use.  I will never go back to using a towel again.
