MATCH PLAY RULES
« on: January 07, 2008, 04:12:28 AM »
I was writing down my rules for the match play portion of the tournament this weekend and I wanted some feed back on what I have.

1. Match play will consist of the best of 5 games
2. Lanes will be oiled 1 through 24 (24 lanes in the house)
3. In case of a tie in any game, the winner will be determined by a one ball roll-off in which the higher seed will pick the bowling order and lane.
4. We will start with lanes 1 through 16 for the 1st round of 16. Lanes will be drawn by the tournament director. The round of 8 will be bowled on lanes 17 through 24, once again lanes will be drawn by the tournament director. The final 4 will take place on re-oiled lanes 3 - 6. The finals will take place on lanes 5 & 6 but will not be re-oiled for the final match.
5. There will be 10 mintues of practice for each round, with the exception of the title match there will be 5 minutes.

Please any suggestions would be great since I kind of went solo the first 2 years I ran this tournament......

I assume the higher seed gets choice of starting lane?

Are you going to have them stagger start like PBA show? One start on the left lane and then bowl two frames before the other bowler gets up?

Lane Courtesy?

Pinbuster, read rule 3 again, I have the higher seed stated in that rule.
And most people know you stagger 2 frames at the time. As far as lane courtesy it is the same as in the tournament just one lane courtesy.
But I will put that in there, thanks for the information....

Rule 3 was the higher seed picks a lane in case of a tie not which lane each bowler would start the match on.

You could also just have the lower seed start the first game of a match on the left lane.
