Hello!
I design for an on-line text-based roleplaying game, and we have a bowling center that opened in-game last fall. I did not have much input in the original code, but after months of fussing about how unrealistic the scoring is, I've now tackled a revamp of the system with the help of another designer. Our discussion right now is what are realistic percentages for strikes, spares, and opens, based on skill level. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who cares to hazard an educated guess. Here are the skill levels we're considering:
ELITE BOWLER (220+ average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
PROFESSIONAL BOWLER (200-220 average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
ABOVER AVERAGE AMATEUR (175-200 average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
First ball channel %
AVERAGE AMATEUR (150-175 average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
First ball channel %
BELOW AVERAGE AMATEUR (130-150 average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
First ball channel %
BEGINNER (no set average)
Strike %
Spare %
Open %
First ball channel %
All thoughtful input would be appreciated!
Deb
