So I've said this before, but I'm good friends with the only guy in the history of the Open Championships to bowl back to back 300s in the process of winning the singles event in 2003 in Knoxville, Ron Bahr. Well we've been watching all the videos and livestreams since USBC started doing that on their youtube channel, and granted what he did has been over a decade ago, but he's been a little bummed recently that he never gets mentioned when they start talking about records and accomplishments and things on the stream. Well I took to Facebook and sent a message to Matt Cannizzaro (who is the primary commentator among other things for the live streaming) asking him if he could give Ron a plug or a shout out next time record performances or the like came up during the commentary. He got right back with me and said normally the shout outs happen when people happen to be there during the livestream, or if he sees their names pop up in the stream chat, but he said if the opportunity presented itself and he happened to remember, he'd definitely say a few words. Very next stream, the one they had yesterday, Matt remembered and made a few comments! Very cool of him to do that, Ron isn't a big name, hasn't ever bowled on tour, regionals, or big time tournaments, and was 45 at the time it happened, just a really good local bowler who had an incredible day at the right time. Ron was bowling league during the live stream, but I'm sure he'll watch the video at some point today, should make his day!
