Use of Ablaron Pads

When using Ablaron pads, do you use water? I know you can use it dry, but is water recommended? I've read that others have even used polish on an Ablaron pad, is that advisable?

Yes you will get better results using water. It will rinse the particles off the pad as it sands. As far as using polish on abralon pads, I would not advise it unless you want the base grit the same as the pad you are using to apply the polish. Like if you want a 2000 grit + polish finish, you would have to use a 2000 pad. Even then I would imagine it would be hard to acheive a high gloss finish.

When I'm doing any kind of sanding on the spinner I use water. I choose to use water to avoid the particles getting into the air. I've also heard people on here say that they apply polish using the backside of an abralon pad.

Thank you for the information. I was using the Ablaron pads dry, but I thought using water would work better. using the back side of the pad to put on polish is a agreat idea.

If you use the back of the abralon pad for polish or compound, make sure it's an old one as the compound will start coming thru the front side after a while.

If you are talking about using the back of the abralon pad to apply polish, I have tried that before and was not satisfied with the results. A 100% terry cloth towel works best.
