Me bowling (video) updated New side shot
« on: March 13, 2004, 02:12:46 AM »
Well I decided I would post myself bowling, the angles are not all that good because I had no one to hold the cam for me so I had to set it on something.

As everyone else has said, I am open to suggestions.

I know I said I would put one up of me playing up the boards but I messed up and thought I recorded me doing it but found out I did not but here is a straiter shot.

As Leftside said you can save target.  Just right click and click "save target as" then if I am to ugly just delete them.

They both work.  Your problem must be 'operator error'.

As for the videos, after watching the first one, I said, "that dude must leave a lot of 9 pins."  Then I watched the second video and sure enough you left a 9 pin.

You've got a good look to you.  Looks like you get out of the ball cleanly and maintain good balance at the line.  Without being able to watch several shots consecutively I couldn't comment on much else like targeting and consistency of your release.  What do you average?

Nevertheless, what I see here looks pretty good.

Thanks Pin-nut,

I do leave my fair share of nines but I get my fair share of breaks too so it evens out.  My ave is 193.

Your game looks good. I would try to stay behind the ball longer (as the ball goes right off of your hand) and keep that elbow inside your target line in  your downswing. Your timing looks good and natural and the amount of effort is minial. Looks like you should be averaging more and will by working on the abive two items.  They has been lots of talk about being able to hit two targets... at the arrows and at the break point. I would be you miss more right than left at the breakpoint. Working on the above two items would help this as well. You surely are on the right road. Keep up the good work.

Pin chaser, thank you for the suggestions, I will work on keeping my elbow inside.  I can stay behind the ball when I need too, (guess i need to more often)

I was thinking the same. Nothing else looks bad, but just a little kneebend, and everything will be near perfect.

WOW you strike EVERYTIME!! Do you need a backer?
Do you use Ron C's Magic Carpet?
Try delaying your pushaway just a little to make your next-to-last-step-timing just a little later.

What would you call Bowling1.avi?

Is that more a skid/snap or is it more of an early roll, it's hard to tell how far down the lane you get before it comes back becasue of the angle, just trying to get a point of reference when learning vocabulary..

Ah, the land of spinners!  You probably haven't seen this because you (generalizing) guys over there typically have less oil on the lanes, so i assume you spin it.  Here, we have more oil, so we have developed techniques different than yours, namely, coming up more on the ball, and getting a bigger hook.  It's hard to explain, but i doubt you would need it unless you come over here to bowl.
