It's not possible to broad jump 29 feet!
« on: August 18, 2006, 08:31:03 AM »
Recent results...2006!

Saladino won with a leap of 27 feet, 5 1/4 inches. South Africa's Mohamed Salman Al-Khuwalidi was second at 27-4 1/2 while American Dwight Phillips was third at 27-0 3/4.

"I'm really glad to still be in the jackpot," Saladino said.

It's not possible to jump 29 feet ...is it?  He is best in the world!!!

There is a lot of emotion here...this post is about broad jumping and a spectacular event...I still don't believe I saw it on TV!

I still don't believe Bob Beamon believes he did it!  Bob Beamon had very little track record compared to the two world record holders at this historic event.  I believe they finished almost 2 feet behind Beamon at this meet.
Of course I would guess after his jump it would be tough to go for first!
I only look at one thing?  What are you talking about?  Do you have some insight into the way my mind works?

One of the greatest sports events ever!  Partially amazing is how far today's NEW stars are behind this great achievement and then those that followed by Carl Lewis and Mike Powell.  Yet they are better trained better fed...etc.

WE have some ranters here going off on a tangent!

That seemed to be implied above as part of his preparation secret!

See I believe PPPS.  New preparation method.

REgards,

PS eventually Carl Lewis cleared 29 feet in one meet 3 times...just missing the world record(once the wind in HIS face).  In the same meet Mike Powell went 29 feet 4 inches.  REally a fascinating accomplishment all of them!

LL, using your previous posts, how come it took 23 years to beat Bob Beamon's record?  After all, he showed that it was possible. That should have released that "impossible" mental barrier that the other top competitors had.
