Breaking down the kinesiology (human movement) of bowling, if you aren't completely muscling the ball your power comes from your core.  glutes, hip flexors, abs.   This is regarding the one handed bowler.

Now the release, it's the fingers and the forearms.

to increase the revs on the ball what has been the best technique of practicing?  I know most bowlers do not workout regularly, but for those that do, do you go through a "bowling workout"

I plan on creating one this summer for general bowling fitness and to increase overall power on the ball.

thanks for any input.

There is even a book out on working out for bowling.  If you look at the exercises compared to what you do in bowling there is no correlation.

Bowling is an explosive power sport.   It's anaerobic.   you take 3-7 steps then stop quickly and throw a ball.   There are no plyometrics to help with the power it takes to throw a bowling ball.

Med ball exercises.    Exercises with a bowling ball even.
