I'm currently bowling a summer league, where at the end of the season we'll be getting a certificate to the pro shop for a new ball, including drilling.  (Inserts and slugs are extra.)  But since I've been bowling league at the same house now for the last three years, most everything I've got right now is geared towards heavy oil.  These are synthetic lanes with considerable amounts of oil/conditioner.   

Currently I've got a Roto Grip Menace, Defiant Soul and a Storm Optimus Solid.  Along with my Brunswick Zone spare ball, I've got an old Roto Grip Mars for drier lanes. 

So what I'm thinking, in the event I decide to bowl league in another house or try my hand in a local tournament or two, is that I need to get a medium oil ball, but which one? 

My bowling style is pretty middle of the road.  Ball speed is 15-16 mph and not a lot of rotation.  Pretty much your average tweener.  The one thing I know I definitely need to do is drop down to 15 lbs. 

So far, the balls I'm considering are the Storm IQ Tour (have heard and read a lot of good/great things about this ball), the IQ Tour 30, the Roto Grip Hy-Wire and the Wreck-It.  Have also thought about an original Hy-Road or giving the Hy-Road Pearl another look.  I had a Hy-Road Pearl that I bought used but just never had much luck with it.  Especially on the synthetic lanes.

As you can tell, my preference is Roto Grip/Storm, but a couple of other brands I'm kinda interested in are Radical and Track, but I don't know much about them.  So what in their lineups fall into a medium oil category?   

So does this sound like I'm on the right track?  Any other balls I should be considering?  Any and all input is welcome!!

Does the voucher carry a price limit? With storm I would look at the Rocket Ship, Sky Rocket, or Hy-Road Pearl. The IQ Tour while having lower diff has an absorbent cover so I've read and would still be on the slightly heavier side of medium and same with the Hy-Road. IQ Tour 30 might work out well too.

With Roto the Hy-Wire might be a great pick up as well. Reason I asked price limit is because the Wreck-it is fairly cheap and would be better bargain to use the voucher for a higher priced ball and by the wreck-it yourself if the other ball doesn't workout.

If you're will to try Track might as well give Hammer a look because that Rebel they just came out with looks to be a medium shot killer.

My initial thought by looking at your bag would be to look into something that will give you some more length and punch off the backend for when you want to move in once the lanes start to dry out.  I would consider looking into the Radical Ridiculous

Yup. The Ridiculous, Ridiculous Asym, or Ridiculous Pearl would all fit that role very well. The Guru Limited also looks like it's going to be a nice long/strong piece. A stronger pearl asymmetrical for someone with decent speed and average revs should be playable on most medium oil sets.

Not sure Track offers something in that mold. The Paradox Pearl might be too strong. If you want to stick with the Storm family then the Hy-Road, Hy-Road Pearl, Hy-Wire, and Wreck-It (probably) are all solid choices. If you can get Hyper Cell Skid that would be nice too, or maybe an Eternal Cell although that is a bit smoother.

As for the voucher having a set limit; the way I understood it when I signed up for the league is that it doesn't.  It just has to be a currently available ball.  In other words, they aren't going to go looking for and special order a discountinued ball. 

I will definitely check into all the balls mentioned then narrow the choices down to 3-4,  then run those by the PSO since he's been drilling all my stuff for the past 2-3 years and would know better than me what fits my game and  what would work best.

I really love my Phaze for medium conditions. I know this ball had a lot of mixed reviews, but it has the exactly the motion I wanted. It's not crazy snappy on the back end, but it does make a nice move when it finds friction. What I like about it is that it never over reacts. I also have an IQ Tour Nano that works well on medium lanes.

I think the Rebel would be a fine choice! I've had my eye on it as well since it reminds me a bit of the Agent.
