As Bones has eluded in previous posts, there once was a time you could sstand back and watch bowlers and by simply watching there approach you knew the good bowlers. That was in the era that the predominance was on repeatability and the skill to hit your targets.
However, today it is not such a game anymore. Today the skill is in "matching up" having the right equipment in your hands at all times. The ability to repeat and ability to be consistant with speed and release is off set with equipement that allows for opening up the shot and carry like in no other time of bowlings history. Sometimes bowlers happen to have or grab the right ball, other times it is a calculated decision, and understanding of what is happening on the lane surface.
The best bowlers today are the ones that are always in the hunt because they are making correct choices with equipment. That cant be seen on a single frame of video or on a single tournament. Nor can it be emmulated as every bowler is unique and has there own bowling mechanics.
