Of what's currently available, what's the highest RG ball...

...out there? I'm talking about reactive equipment with reasonably good performance expectations.

Sorry for not doing my own research but there's so much stuff out there.

James,

Thanks. What are some others that are up there close to the Neptune?

Jess, the Columbia Jazz is a higher rg piece (2.64) that I have seen a few bowlers have very good success with, when the match-up is right.  Also, look at the Hammer Razyr (rg 2.65), even though it has a standard pancake weight block, the cover on this ball is incredible and the recovery when it hits the dry is quite good.  I hope this helps!

Thanks, it does help.

I've been self-checking my inventory and realizing that I'm basically missing the entire upper end of the RG spectrum.

(For whatever it's worth: )
I'm currently using the Power Groove pearl and solid combo, on Brunswick AnvilLanes oiled light to medium-light. Their breakpoint is not the uncontrollable backend that many people make them out to be, IF drilled properly but not unusually. Their hitting power is in line with other Brunswick products.
I believe their RG is slightly higher than most out there right now, and the PK 17 coverstock, in both solid and pearl version can hardly be bettered.

RG Max: 2.704
RG Min: 2.663
RG Diff: 0.041

Anything that has a pancake weight block or single flip block, mainly true high rg bowling balls have more filler material and less weight block.

If a ball has only a pancake core and nothing else, I'd be inclined to agree. Several cores, like the Power Groove, the Tornado and the Jazz, have an added flip block or two that makes them so much more than a simple pancake, 3 piece ball. To ignore that fact is to ignore an opportunity knocking on your door. Do so at your own risk. I chose to grab that opportunity.
