Med/light oil ball choices?
« on: June 23, 2008, 04:10:34 PM »
Anyone have any suggestions on a med/light oil  ball for my fiancee?

She has low ball speed(13mph or so) & low/medium revs.  She currently has a black widow pearl that she really likes, but when the lanes break down, it burns up & she has no chance at scoring.

Im needing something that wont burn up on her, & will give her nice length without too much hook, but still carries.

My first thought was a l/lm hornet....although, thats because i really like L/LM stuff.  Our other choice is a T-road pearl.

Any & all suggestions would be great, we arent set on anything right now, just trying to find something that will fit the bill.

Thx
Shawn

Oh, BTW, she just shot her first 600 series tonight!!!!  Also her highest game ever...a 247!!!

Im so proud of her, i have to get her something to reward her for her accomplishment, HELP ME HELP HER!!!!

Anyway, enough rambling, help meh please.

I have a Hornet drilled rico layout and let me tell you what. This ball is amazing on dry lanes. It glides down the lane like plastic but has a smooth controlled arc like a urethane ball!!! I can go on and on but definitly go with a Hornet but make sure and drill it pin down at least so it wont make a u-turn off the dry.

I only thought the Mercury was one of the best dry lane balls I have ever had. Boy was I sure wrong. From what I have seen the Pearl TR would be much stronger off the dry!! I dont know what else to say other than GO WITH THE HORNET! John

not the T-Road Pearl, that is almost the same as Black Widow Pearl

I'd say the Street Rod Pearl

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I'd also suggest an entry level ball - the Power Grooves, Scouts or Tropical Storms are a good choice, and they have also colors that offer a huge ladies' appeal She will probably not need more, and I know some female players who get along with such "weak" equipment on lighter conditions than mid-range balls. If it has to be Hammer, the Cherry Vibe and the new Razyr (but it just has a pancake core and could lack a good end roll for her) might be current choices, too.

Go with the Hornet...I play on desert conditions and have tried most of the dry lane offerings. IMHO Hornet is easily the best.Second choice and much cheaper is Power Groove Dry/R.

Street Rod Pearl is also amazingly strong...would probably avoid that one also.

If she likes the Hammer ball reaction perhaps you should consider one the vibes.

I have had many of the balls above.......

Powergrooves(actually Dynamic groove)
Scouts
Tornados,
a bunch of good Hot Rods, including the great Super Sport Pearl
and now Tropical Storm.

I have seen nothing like the Tropical Storm!
Best of breed if like length with backend!!

Very similar but a quicker move than the great Hot Rod Super Sport pearl.  Slightly pearlier.  This ball is so good that I've seen some lady bowlers look their best with this ball, go on to more advanced equipment(stronger core) and never look as good as they did with their Tropical!

The Tropical and the Super Sport pearl are ever so slightly earlier than the Scouts and Tornados which I believe in many situations are a little too long on today's oils!

You won't be disappointed!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS it's the reactor coverstock that makes this ball.....so great!  Great stuff!

I think the avalanche pearl looks like a good choice to me, or the hornet with a controlled drill

I'd say one of the Vibes, a Neptune, or maybe even that new Hammer Rayzr
