hotshot187, I feel your pain. Not sure WHY you''re experiencing this, but I know why I do. I developed my release bowling with a Columbia Yellow-dot on a 38ft heavier ( for the day ) shot. You really HAD to hit the ball (a.k.a doing the ROTH) to get much hook. Being a bigger guy with strong forearms and hands made it pretty easy for me and soon became quite natural.
Todays equipment is FAR stronger than it needs to be for me. I''ve had to modify my release and incorporate much more axis tilt than before in order to get the ball through the heads cleanly enough and still control the breakpoint.
If I use my natural release, everything REACTIVE hooks, but the volume pretty much takes low flaring urethane and plastic out of play on our particular house condition.
I am going to either get an A.M.F. HYPE urethane ( for the flaring capabilities and mild cover ), or a mild covered reactive and drill it with a short pin-to-pap drilling which will make it very rolly/arcy and see what happens. I don''t get to bowl much these days (job change), but we''ll see what happens.
