Throwing some-one else's ball...and liking it
« on: February 06, 2005, 12:48:58 PM »
am lefty w/somewhat low track...approx. 2" off the finger holes....threw a righty's ball drilled stack lev. for him....and....

the ball rolled down..slight turn..and crushed the pocket..typical THS..

what was really interesting was the fact my track moved way up to quarter/half inch off the fingers/thumb...really high...

his thumb was lateral pitched under/so away for me...

originally was having to throw a v-clean 20 to 10...his ball same line was an....Xcell...if I had one drilled lefty...would've had to play 10 boards deeper...

Would like knowledgleable people's thoughts on these observations/reactions...and do you think there is a place in one's arsenal for opposite weight drilling....ie. shafer's drilling today...looked lefty somewhat to me????

sammy the sage -- IMO, your track moved because of the difference in lateral thumb pitch.  For you, right pitch will help you stay behind the ball longer.  With the pin almost in your track, the core is quite stable - this reduces the flare and makes the ball go long before it hooks, saving most of its energy for the back end.  If you like the reaction, drill a ball with the same layout.  --  JohnP

I have a left handed friend and we drill about 50% of his equipment negative.  Most of his stuff is with the pin on the right side of the middlefinger.  I have to be careful not to drill his stuff to strong or everything just overhooks.
