2 handed bowling help
« on: April 03, 2011, 03:24:35 AM »
I just started messing around throwing the ball two handed. Ive bowled about10 games this way. I cant seem to get any ball speed. Ive watched youtube videos but it hasnt helped that much. What are ways that have helped other people get ball speed starting out two handed. and any other tips that have helped you. I throw right handed my ball speed is 17-18mph but two handed 13.

I only use it as a last resort if I am completely lost one-handed. But the ball speed will come eventually with practice. It comes from the speed of your feet and the hop that both Belmo and Osku have. Watch their approach and you will see what I mean. Thats is where they generate most of there power. (Not that you have to have the hop, but that is where they generate such a high ball speed)

I'm 15-16 mph one handed and when I first started 2 handed I was like 10 mph.  I couldn't keep anything on the lane.  Eventually I got up to 12-13 mph and at least on fresh oil I could keep it on the lane.  I never really got decent bowling 2 handed, but by throwing plastic I can bowl on a house shot.  I bought two used (old and dead) 13 lbs on e bay to practice with.  I don't know how dead these resin balls were but I couldn't keep the ball on the lane.  One day I just threw the ball as hard as I could with loft and got to 16 mph.  All of a sudden the ball was a carry monster.  It hit as hard as any of my 15 lbs resin balls one handed.  I'm only saying this because with a lighter ball at least I got a glimpse every now and then of what 2 handed bowling could be for me.  If I continued with a 15 lber I would of gave up a long time ago since it was difficult to break 150.  I'm about 14-15 mph with old urethane but I have fun even though I'm much better one handed.  It's just nice to be able to hook the ball every now and then.

Just my experience.
