Messengers?
« on: April 20, 2012, 11:14:26 AM »
I am fairly well matched up in terms of speed (17.5) and revs (425-450), but lately I've had an issue with messengers coming back towards me instead of going sideways back towards the 10 pin. Is there anything I can do about this? I'm losing about 2 strikes a game from this type of pin action, and it only started to happen the last month or so.

a scout is an off hit normally from being light, the ball needs to higher flush into the pocket.  soften the ball speed up a touch

That happens when the ball is a touch too far down lane and you are coming in too steep into the pocket.  Think of it as coming in from beside the headpin as opposed to entering the pocket from in front of it.  In other words, the ball may be a little too skid flippy.  It is all about entry angle.  If you can get your ball to starting reading the lane and hooking a touch sooner, say at the 40-42 foot area as opposed to 45 foot, then your carry should go up.  This is my best guess without actually seeing the ball go down the lane.

Actually, I think this is pretty spot on considering what I was seeing. I was bowling so well I didn't want to change anything but the ball was starting up a little late. Wouldn't of been a problem had a been using something a little skid flip, but when using a ball that supposed to be an even arc I could see the problem.

The boards on my house have gotten so soft it's pretty difficult to get messengers and bouncing out corner pins is nearly impossible now.
