Bribe you to bowl???
« on: March 29, 2004, 06:39:41 PM »
Owning a bowling center in parts of the country is a feast / famine proposition. Only about half the league bowlers bowl in the summer leagues. Most of the major bills the bowling center has to pay remain the same. So my question is this. If you don’t normally bowl in the summer is there anything the bowling center could offer you that could "bribe" you into bowling? What would it take to keep your balls out of the closet and on the lanes? Anything? Anything? Buler?

Practice sessions with different lane conditions.

Depending on the size of the house, and the number of people
that sign up, take half of the house and set up different shots,
and allow the bowlers to bowl on each of the shots.  I would love
to try a true flood, or some of the PBA patterns.

Cheaper rates, AC, and that is all fine but how about an actual shot?  It seems to me that when I go bowling in the summer, I pay $3.00 per game and bowl on lanes that have week old oil on them.  Even my plastic hooks.  That may help somewhat.  I know I'd go more often if there was some kind of real shot out there.

a 32 lane center here in nashville is adding some money to the pot for a couple of summer leagues on wednesday nights, a handicap doubles league followed by a 2 man scratch league.  other incentives include $50 bonus for high game each game, and a year end one day tournament for the top 25% of each league, with the prize money funded by the center (around $1,500 i think).

they'll probably fill the house for both leagues . . . $9 lineage * 3 bowlers * 32 lanes = $864 - $150 game prizes = $714 net for triples . . . $426 net for scratch doubles . . . plus F&B . . .

alot of the good bowlers, the ones who like to bowl year round, will be there.  i'm not that good, but i will be there too!!!
