Help me out guys.....and gals

Where , and what exact kind of micro fiber towel should I get. I remember a post here quite a long time ago, I guess I should search, but,........maybe I will, but refresh my memory....
EDIT: I did a search on 120 days,...nothing
I remember the Owl (charlest) was involved......there's a certain type of micro fiber towel that's best for balls.....
EDIT 2: Found it....search on entire year!

Check out the automotive section at Wal Mart or K Mart.

Yes. I got mine at Wal-Mart, 4 for $5.00. (Yo can re-sell them for $6 or $8 each, on any bowling website.
- really!)
There are some that 100% polyester; they are good for cleaning but not for absorbing oil. They'll just smear.
Get the ones that are labeled 70% polyester, 30% polyamide. They are generally made in Korea. They feel and look like terry cloth cotton, but they are not. They can be washed over and over. Just don't use fabric softener on them. They come in blue and white; I've seen some in light green.
If anyone owns glasses or even sunglasses, they are great for cleaning them since they almost cannot scratch the plastic. Even better for cleaning CDs.

Years ago I cant remember how long ago,
they were sold out of Wisconsin and called
Clean-Swipes.
-
I got some from costco. I got either 8 or 12 for $9.95 in the cleaning section. They were easter egg colors - light pink, lavender, baby blue, light yellow - but they work great.
Costco had discontinued that particular item last I checked, but they were waiting to get a new packaging arrangement that offered more towels...
I rotate them in and out of my bag. I always have 2 in there. They're still kicking hard after a year of use.

I feel like a chump, I paid $8.00 for mine.

In one package, or either, all blue, or all white ??
I'll pick some up tomorrow.......

Jeff, I still have a pack that I mentioned above
they are light blue and kind of small checkered.
-
Also the more you used them the more broken in they
seemed to get and seemed to wipe the ball cleaner
and easier.

at an ebonite demo day the rep showed us the wonders of a microfiber towel.
he pored lane oil on a house ball and rubbed it off with a regular bowling towel. then he turn the ball over and repeated the process only with the microfiber towels.
one side of the ball was shiny an the other side was clean and dull as when it started.
explained that towels just rub the out into the surface and give it some gloss. so you can get a very un-even ball reaction between cleanings.
he also said he has done a years worth the demo's on one micro-fiber towel( ebonite brand)
also not all microfiber towels are the same. it the size and density of the fibers that allow quick dissipation of oil.

This is a different animal. They are/were called Clean Strike Towels.
I still have a few of them; they are a cloth/paper combination, but can be washed. They are also excellent, but are hard to come by. I got mine by mailing to an address in an ad in Bowling This Month magazine.
Clean Strike Bowling Products
PO Box 37043
Milwaukee, WI 53237-0043
I have no idea if they are still in business so don't send any money to this address until you verify it.
They were 1 towel for $4.95 plus 1.95 shipping.
3 pack for $9.95 + 2.95 shipping
5 pack for 14.95 + 3.95 shipping back in 1997.

The above are definitely the best kind. Check the label, because there are other kinds. They put terrycloth to shame for wiping off oil.
I've found some yellow ones at an auto parts store. I mostly use a blue one that came with my Icon ball. The ball was crap and I sold it, but I kept the towel.

I use a Storm Micro fibre towel and a exceptioanlly snazzy Quantum one. I use them in conjunction and they work great.

Thank God for my micro fiber towel! Since acquiring the Ebonite towel I've gone 780,740,720,690,680 and a 290 game.

Anywhere from 13"x13" to 16"x16"; they can shrink with hot water washing - no big deal.

Mumzie,
Be careful. If these came from 3M, they can be 100% polyester; they are wonderful for cleaning things as they are very soft, but they are terrible for soaking up oil or water. These I use for eyeglasses (plastic that cannot be scratched) and cleaning CDs & DVDs (which must not be sctarched).
The ones I know that work for bowling (for absorbing AND wiping clean) are 70% polyester and 30% polyamide, as I mentioned above.

I found today at Kmart a 2 pack for 4.99 from Viking Car Cleaning Products, I called their 800 number before I purchased them, and confirmed that they were 70/30.......so I'm going to give one a shot tomorrow at mixed league....
It didn't say it on the package, but the company did pull the records and gave me the mix....thank God for cell phones !

I got mine at Wal-Mart today. Package of 5 for $4.86 and tax. They're 14 x 14 and 70%polyester and 30% polyamide. 3 blue, 2 white. I can't wait to see how dirty the white ones get.
This material is the weirdest thing I've ever felt. Soft and sort of scratchy at the same time

I cut the tag off of my towel. Local association is looking into the situation, someone claimed my towel is now illegal. It seems that my towel has too much side weight and my scores may be in jeopardy.

Something I have noticed - more than halfway serious here - the green ones are unlucky. Give one of those to your opponent.
OMG, I have the green ProGrip WipeOut towel! No wonder I suck, I knew it couldn't be me!

I took my daughter to practice this afternoon after watching Mika throw three bills on TV (inspiration, ya know)

I brought my brand new micro-fiber towel to give it a test run. I concentrated on playing 15 since I don't get to play there that often in league.
